The Best Darn Homemade Face Mask Ever

Spa teen girl applying facial clay mask. Beauty treatments. If you want healthy, glowing skin nothing beats a facial from a well trained professional (demurely curtsies). But sometimes you don’t quite have the time or the funds.

Never fear, I’m going to let you in on one of my personal favorite at home skin masks. It’s ridiculously easy, is great for just about anyone, it’s inexpensive, and chances are you’ve already got everything you need in your kitchen.

While it can’t compare to a professional treatment, this simple combination of ingredients can give your face a quick pep up and is great the day before a big audition.

For this little beauty session – all you needs is:

  • 2 tablespoons of sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons of brown sugar
  • 4 strawberries.

Step 1: Combine the sour cream and the brown sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 2: Apply half of the mixture to your face.

Step 3: Relax for 15 or more minutes.

While this mask is great for almost any skin type, if you have sensitive skin do a test patch first!

The reason this mask is so great is because the lactic acid from the sour cream and the glycolic acid from the sugar are alpha hydroxy acids. These are great at breaking up the gunk that hold dead skin cells against the surface of your skin.

Now perhaps you’re thinking, um Brianne what do I do with the other half of the mask? And what am I supposed to do with the strawberries?

This is the best part… while the mask sits on your face, you dip the strawberries in the remaining mixture. Seriously – this is absolutely delicious. I love it when skin care is delicious!

When your time is up, rinse your face thoroughly (you don’t want to be smelling of sour cream) and immediately apply moisturizer. If you’re going out during the day, definitely apply sunscreen as alpha hydroxy acids can leave you more sensitive to the sun for a little while.

And that’s all it takes for an awesome at home skin treatment! If you try this, leave me a comment and let me know how it turns out.
