Erika DiehlI know I am not alone when I express how skilled I am at reasoning with myself whenever I walk the ledge of decisions, decisions as I come in contact with deliciously naughty foods that I just can’t pass up.

But telling ourselves we deserve to be bad every now and then, when every now and then is more like multiple times a week is not only going to keep us from feeling good, but it can wreak havoc on not only our skin (hello inconvenient breakouts?!) but will also lead to weak hair strands and an unhealthy scalp.

Time to talk ourselves down!

These Choice Food Items should definitely be in circulation on your dietary menu if healthy Hair is what you really crave.

What to bring to the Table…

Poultry (or Seitan) – Because hair is nearly all Protein, Poultry is a key dietary item that keeps strands strong and plentiful! Not a meat eater? Try Seitan! A four-ounce portion of Seitan has more than 20 grams of protein, making it the most densely-packed vegetarian protein source!

Sweet Potatoes – If you are experiencing itchy, annoying dandruff, it could mean that you are low on Vitamin A.  Eating more of this type of potatoes is that it can help produce Vitamin A as well as the oils that sustain and protect the Scalp. Vitamin C is also found in this which helps prevent breakage! What’s sweeter?!

Walnuts – Did you know that too little Biotin in the body can lead to loss? Well this nut is a healthy helper because it is quite rich both Biotin and Vitamin E. A definite bonus since hair rarely gets shielding protection from the sun.

Oysters – Lack of Zinc can also lead to hair loss (even in eyelashes!) and this is where the Oyster proves a winner, because only 3 ounces offers an incredible 493% of your daily value! Incredible!

Eggs – While also a great source of protein, eggs are also packed with Iron which is especially necessary since most women suffer from lack of Iron (Anemia) which can cause hair loss Iron also helps cells carry oxygen to the hair follicles allowing for ultimate healthy hair strands and great scalp circulation! Need an alternative to Eggs, my Vegan friends? Add more Spinach to your Diet!

Keeping these foods on your plate for ultimate Hair Health is a must! I know it’s tough to tell now but our food choices don’t show up in hair and scalp nearly as quickly as skin irritation, taking up to 2 months to show up!

Now let’s give our hair the advantage it deserves not only outside, but inside too! You’ll feel better knowing your choices are creating the bounce and shine we all desire to keep for years to come!
