“By The Numbers” Part One: Collecting Inspiration

0

Natasha Younge - avatarWelcome to my first collection of “By The Numbers,” an assortment of witty, and inspiring articles that have numbers in their title.  I love collecting, sorting and filing an inordinate amount of information.  Call it a hobby – okay, maybe an obsession.

This first set of articles is chock-full of tips about human behavior and life.  As a person who works in entertainment, and particularly as an actress, I find them very useful.  Whether you are moving toward self-mastery in order to move forward in your life, or career, you will find nearly everything you need in my three favorite (so far).  Read on!

#1.   “7 Little Habits That Can Change Your Life, and How To Form Them” by Leo Babauta ( @zen_habits )

As creative people, we are constantly trying to form positive habits that will enable us to be in our art more consistently.  And most of us have daily habits that we’ve formed long before we decide to become professionals in our varied careers in entertainment.  Well, if you’re seeking a guideline to forming habits that can help you achieve long-term goals (like working as a professional actor), this article is invaluable.  Much of success in this field is about consistency, and nothing screams consistent like “habit.”

#2.  “7 Things You Need to Understand About People” by Josh Spector

Written from the comedian’s perspective, this article is just as useful to anyone growing their fan base through social media.  The article provides solid tips about what motivates humans into action.  Surprisingly, this knowledge is becoming increasingly scarce as more communication is conducted online.  In addition, when you approach social media with only the numbers in mind (Facebook “likes”, Twitter followers, etc.), it’s easy forget that each “number” is an audience member whom we want to reach; a human-being, with whom we have much in common.

#3.  “50 Life Secrets and Tips” by Jordan Lejuwaan   @highexistence

Consider this article one of life’s small treats.  This densely packed list should keep you busy for some time, so feel free to bookmark it for repeated visits.  Better yet, save a copy for your later perusal.  People who express themselves through creativity will recognize most of the secrets on this list.  But there are a few that might catch you off guard.

LEAVE A COMMENT.   Which “By The Numbers” article most inspired you?  Is there anything missing from their lists that you can share?
