I recently attended the Simply Stylist Fashion and Beauty Conference hosted by Catt Sadler of E! News and had an array of panelists and guests from Lo Bosworth from The Hills, Mr. Jay Manuel from America’s Next Top Model, to Ashlee White from Bravo’s Princesses: Long Island, and it was an awesome event.
I met some pretty cool people and had an interesting conversation with a beauty advertising executive and after talking about what we both did, she asked, “Wow, when do you find the time to sleep?” I had never really thought about it but I guess I do fit a lot of good stuff into 24 hours, so I thought I would share with you all a typical day-in-the-life of an empire builder and how I make the most of my time.
5:00 – 6:00am: Wake-up, stretch and a take a few moments to create a calm, still, and peaceful mental space. Practice my lines for an on-camera interview while making coffee. Shower, get dressed, and then check my emails to see if anything urgent came through during the night.
6:00 – 7:00am: Leave my apartment and head to the production studio. Catch-up with my friend who is also the make-up artist, grab a muffin and fruit.
7:00 – 7:30am: Meet with Jamie Anderson, Olympic hopeful and six time X Games medalist and get mic’d up for the interview. Interview Jamie.
7:30 – 9:00am: Work on my Pop culture with style! website. Posts images, blog posts, tweets, Facebook posts, and do follow-up emails and outreach.
9:00 – 12:00pm: Work my awesome “day job” doing public relations and marketing for a global brand strategy and design firm. (Tweet @CandyWashington if you want me to write a post on How to Make Your Day Job Work for You)
12:00 – 1:00pm: While eating my salad for lunch, I self-submit to breakdowns, work on my site, and respond to emails and submit pitches.
1:00 – 5:30pm: Finish up my work at my day job.
6:00 – 8:00pm: Attend an industry event for NYLON magazine and GAP.
8:30 – 9:30pm: Hit the gym and have a light dinner.
9:30 – 10:30pm: Downtime on the couch and catching up on my favorite TV shows on Netflix.
