An Oscar Winning Face

2

DanaWaldie

Alright ladies it’s that time a year again when we Ms.Bizzy in Bizz gush over our favorite actresses for their hair, wardrobe, and makeup selections for the red carpet at the OSCARS! We sit and wonder what it would be like to be Sandra Bullock floating thru space in Gravity (actually I don’t think I want to be locked in a spaceship, no room for primping). Or Amy Adams in American Hustle with the awesome retro wardrobe selection AND she scores some steamy love scenes with Bradly Cooper! Btw… Bradly if you’re looking for a date, I happen to be available March 2nd (day of the Oscars). Ah hem, anyway back on topic…How can we achieve a red carpet worthy look ourselves?

First and foremost, prior to any great makeup application we must have a clean canvas (your skin). Make sure your skin is cleaned and prepped. Treat yourself to a spa day at home by using the Clarisonic cleansing brush, this stimulates and exfoliates the skin. Then use one of your favorite masks. One of my personal favs is Vera Bella Skin Therapy Firming Mint Mask.  I don’t want to mention any names but I happen to know that many of Hollywoods A-Listers (including the Oscar nominees) are frequenters at Vera Bella of Beverly Hills spa. Let your mask sit for 20 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. Lastly, prep your skin with a moisturizer and primer. And viola’! We are now ready for a perfect makeup application.

Now on to teaching you the perfect Oscar makeup application and how to achieve the look I have created for you. Enjoy!

Step 1: Apply your foundation. I used It Cosmetics bye bye redness correcting cream.

Step 2: Fill in your brows. I used Perfekt Beauty eye brow gel. I obsess over this product because it is completely dummy proof and no need to be a pro makeup artist. It comes in the same packaging as mascara. Simply swipe the mascara wand over your brows, and BAM! Perfekt brows that stay in place all day!

Step 3: Contour and blush cheeks. I used It Cosmetics Live, Love, Laugh Vitality Face Disc. I prefer all in one bronzer & blush sets. Place brush in palette and swipe clockwise then apply just below cheek bones from cheekbone up to earlobe.

Step 4: Eyes. Apply a golden shimmer eye shadow on entire eyelid. I used Chopper from Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. I then used a deep plum color in the eye crease Capucine by Vincent Longo. Apply black eyeliner to top & bottom eyelid (I used TARTE) and lined the inner eyelid with Vincent Longo duo brown eye pencil. To lighten the look I then went over the black liner with Susan Posncik color eye define in smoky quartz (this is a light purple color). This is a dual pencil with a violet eye shadow on the other side. I used this shadow in the inner corner of my eyes. To complete your eyes apply mascara (I used Perfekt lash perfection gel).

Step 5: Apply concealer under eyes and to cover any spots/blemishes. I used Susan Posnick color correct pencil.

Step 6: Lips! I wanted a neutral soft lip so I opted for Kevyn Aucoin lip liner in medium and topped it with Vincent Longo lip gloss in Cherros.
