Ahhh…Runyon Canyon or as I like to call is dog sh*t canyon.  I can call it that because I am a proud dog owner and if you are an Angelino you know that many people at Runyon do not clean up after their dogs.  The aroma that is Runyon is tolerable and consistently remains as one of my favorite workout spots.  Truth be told, I wasn’t always a fan.  The first time I went there I parked only 2 blocks away, but the incline was so steep I was shocked that I made it to the entrance without puking.  Let’s…

I’m guessing that most of you have taken a Zumba class or at least heard the name.  I have my preconceived notions about this fitness craze, but I wouldn’t be giving it my all if I skipped over Zumba.  I don’t use the words fitness craze lightly…people are crazy over Zumba.  I am running into more and more people who are becoming certified Zumba instructors.  In fact, my best friend has proclaimed that she, too, is interested in teaching Zumba.  I’m down for that, as long as she gives me free classes. You can literally take Zumba anywhere.  You can…

I literally can’t lift my legs to get into my car, let alone, take another workout class.  So I decided to grab my bestie and my dog and take a walk in Burbank.  The Chandler bikeway is 2 miles long and goes from Mariposa to Clybourn.  You can park almost anywhere and it’s free.  The boulevard offers nicely manicured lawns and public artwork.  I love that I’m not confined to a time frame or emptying my pocketbook. I’m getting older and I’m overweight and my body is not bouncing back like I want it to.  But sitting on my couch…

Day 4 I have never been in so much pain in my entire life…thanks to my first spin class…yay spin.  It wasn’t all bad.  In fact, it started out really fun…but now I can’t even walk down a flight of stairs without slapping the bengay on my thighs. I went to Flywheel in West Hollywood.  This deluxe spin studio has several locations, but I went to the Weho location because my friend’s husband was teaching a “Grease sing-a-long” class.  I mean…how fun does that sound?  I was not prepared for this class. You sign up online and the first class…

#3  – LA Dance Fit It has come to my attention that I am not Wonder Woman.   First off, I don’t fit the costume.  Truth be told, I am realizing that working out every day is very difficult for a chubby 30 something.  It’s a challenge to make time for your self and it’s a challenge finding something you love to do.  I actually found a class I love at LA Dance Fit. I took a class called “Rockin’ the House” with Amy.  This class is a dance party.  Amy’s playlist includes everything from the “Beastie Boys” to the “Scissor Sisters.”…

What do dolphin shorts, glitter tops, and a whole lot of sweat have in common…well I’ve got 2 words for you…Richard Simmons.  Richard Simmons runs one of the most successful studios in Los Angeles.  And he’s been teaching at his famed “Slimmons” studio for over 38 years.  I had to include this studio in my list, but truth be told, this is not a new class for me.  I’ve lived in Los Angeles for almost 9 years, but it took me 5 years to make it to his class.  And I’ve been hooked ever since. This class is not just…

Okay, I bet you’re thinking…why would anyone want to workout for 30 days.  I don’t want to work out for 30 days.  I want to sit on my couch and watch television, but I also want to lose weight.  I’ve been working the weight watchers program for over 3 years and I’m not at my goal weight, but I’m healthier.  I want to work out a few days a week, get a good sweat, and have fun.  The problem I’m facing is that I am petrified of trying out new classes.  I’m a professional stage actress and I have…
